All
Trick AL13 shells are the same thickness.
The depth and diameter is all that separates
one drum from another in pitch/tone.
This is why Trick drums always sound so
consistent.
Trick shells are one ply 1/8” / 3.175mm
with machined double chamfered 45 degree
bearing edges. Thinner shells, regardless of
material, will fundamentally produce a lower
note.
Physics dictates that the thinner the shell,
the lower the fundamental note it will
produce.
(This gives your bass drum the lowest, and
warmest tone, while bypassing the need for
multiple plies of wood for structural
strength.)

|
Trick’s shell material - AL13
is inherently strong by design and
specification, therefore requires no
additional structural support.
While other manufacturers use the notion of
progressive plying as a benefit,
We at Trick believe this to be untrue.
Progressive plying is used to achieve
strength, but the side effect of those extra
plies actually ends up raising the pitch of
each drum. Wood, as we all know, is very
beautiful, but organic and therefore subject
to many inconsistencies as a result of its
evolution and growth process. Progressive
ply wood drum shells, which is what you get
from all major drum manufacturers, also
contain fillers, resin, glue and ply wood
that is also commonly inconsistent.
Trick’s shell material is the result of a chemical recipe,
which is the same each time, and comes with
a verifiable method for proving its
integrity.* |
|
TRICK drums are manufactured under the
AS9100 - Revision B standard.
AS9100 is the quality system requirements
for suppliers to the aerospace industry.
This is an uncompromising standard of
structural integrity that comes standard
with every drum we build.

Trick drums are unaffected by
weather or the elements.
Trick’s AL13 alloy is designed
to withstand everything from the
sub zero temperatures of high
altitude to the blistering 500
degree temperatures used to
bake-on our unique and durable
powder coated finishes.
Wooden drums, are unfortunately
subject to the ill effects of
the elements: heat, cold,
moisture, etc
Trick's AL13 shells are
impervious to moisture.
With the latest technology, and
the best materials available, we
make
percussion products that are
truly state of the art. |

Trick drums can also be finished with
Digital Image Technology, as well as an
environmentally friendly process called
powder coating.
With Trick Drums Digital Image Technology,
any image can be used to enhance the look of
your new drums!
Powder coating provides the sturdiest finish
available today.
It offers multiple benefits over painted or
stained finishes.
-
Greater durability
-
Greater stability to UV light – the
powder
coated finish won’t fade
-
A wider variety of finish types
-
Re-coating - if you get tired of your
present color, you can send your drums
back to the Trick factory, have them
stripped and re-coated (for a nominal
charge) and your drum set will look like
you just bought a new one for a fraction
of the cost.
-
Solid colors, candy apples, textured
finishes, metal flakes and cast finishes
are also available.
